The decision to rename “Grendi Futura” the 180-meter-long ship “Wedellsborg,” built in 2014, flying the Italian flag, already leased to the company and used to transport containers and rolling stock between terminals in Marina di Carrara, Olbia, Cagliari and North Africa, was taken by a large majority in an online vote by employees, customers and suppliers of the integrated logistics group.

The purchase, previously announced in March, was finalized through Nav.Co, a newly formed company based in Genoa and 51 percent owned by Grendi Trasporti Marittimi and 49 percent owned by Finaval. The transaction, worth a total of about 34 million euros, was financed for 70 percent of the amount by Crédit Agricole Italia as agent bank and Banca Popolare di Sondrio.
